Upright Cabaret proudly presents Lucy Woodward.
An exceptional talent born in London and raised in New York City’s beloved Bronx, Lucy Woodward is already a young veteran of the music business. Lucy’s song “Dumb Girls” from her Atlantic Records 2003 debut album was a Top 40 chart hit which allowed her to tour internationally, as well as garner her significant press exposure including a spot on “The Tonight Show.” An award-winning songwriter, Lucy has written and recorded songs for several film soundtracks including most recently the Golden Globe-winning “The Blind Side.” Lucy’s second album, Lucy Woodward Is…Hot & Bothered garnered high praise from critics (“A steamy, string-kissed slice of retro British pop by a versatile singer/songwriter” proclaimed USA Today, while Billboard described how ““Lucy’s a ball, equally appreciable for fans of melodic sing-along baubles and highbrow aficionados of finely honed musical composition. A sonic turnstile that flips through dreamy pop, jazz and bluesy bebop”). Starting out 2010 with a bang, Lucy signed with the legendary jazz label Verve Records, and has just finished her third album, titled Hooked!. Produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie, U2) along with contributions from Justin Stanley (Nikka Costa, Eric Clapton), Itaal Shur and Tim K., Hooked! will be released in May, 2010

More about Spencer…
Vocalist-songwriter-pianist Spencer Day is an artistic vagabond, a modern-day musical nomad. Born in Utah, raised in rural Arizona, currently living in Los Angeles with extended residencies in New York and San Francisco, Day has called many places home. Along the way, he has wandered amid the expansive and diverse landscape of American music, developing an artistic sensibility that borrows from numerous sources: jazz, musical theater, cabaret, soul, folk, traditional pop and contemporary pop are just the tip of the iceberg. Day uses intuition and improvisation as his primary tools to craft a sound that is traditional and familiar, yet fresh and innovative at the same time, creating a blend too subtle to parse into neatly defined categories. Vagabond, his new release and his first on Concord Jazz, cements his reputation as a balladeer for the new century whose creative voice is distilled from the best elements of the previous one.

The Upright Revue is a wildly popular night of song featuring an eclectic mix of artists from stage, record and screen. Cabaret is synonymous with New York City, but in sunny southern California Producer/Hosts Chris Isaacson and Shane Scheel have turned cabaret into a hip and contemporary social swirl of young Broadway and Hollywood.
For over four years, The Upright Revue has captured the Bohemian spirit of ‘Moulin Rouge’ and brought the golden-age of supper clubs back to Hollywood. From Perez Hilton to Variety, a flurry of media attention and sponsors have exploded, spinning cabaret into what Angeleno Magazine proclaimed “one of the best ways to get down after sundown.”
Each month, Music Director Chris Bratten and The Bratt Pack lead a cast of talented performers through a tapestry of song.
The cast of the March Upright Revue: Elizabeth Brackenbury, Todd Buonopane (Broadway: Grease, Spelling Bee), Jill Burke, Ben Caron, Julie Garnye, Ben Goldberg, Sheila Karls, Joshua Kerlin, Harlem Lee (Winner NBC Fame), Kristolyn Lloyd, Tom Lowe (West End: Les Miserables, Cats), Karissa Noel, Nicolette Robinson, Joan Ryan, Daniel Shaw, Von Smith (American Idol), Tracie Thoms (CBS Cold Case, Broadway and Film of Rent), Jake Walden, Jennifer Leigh Warren (Broadway: Big River, Marie Christine, Little Shop of Horrors), Brenna Whitaker and Kimberly Yarbrough.
